Bangkok Part 2
(Friday / 18:15)

10th March

Weekends + Bangkok = Chatuchak!

Had our breakfast settled at a small eating outlet in Chatuchak itself before proceeding to spend money like we are rich bitch.

my omelet rice & S fried rice. it was literally omelet plus white rice at the bottom but because the egg was oily and delicious all is forgiven

Actually we did not really spend a lot haha Saw Felicia and friends at one of the alley and they were like backpacking at Chatuchak. Inside their carry on were stuff they just bought. Scary.

moiz k00l fw3n & coconut ice cream

The weather was really humid and a lot people, including us, bought something called coconut ice cream. Basically they put ice cream in half a coconut shell and scrap the meat of the fruit so it is easy for us to eat. It taste delicious! ^^

Sheila also bought something we call "nipples". It comes in the shape of an egg with a nipple on top of it. To eat, the seller cut the top nipple away and you suck the ice cream (?) through the nipple hole. They have a quite a bit of flavours and Sheila ate two. She bought herself a set of nipples hahahha Yes I am having fun using the word nipple.

We weave our way through Chatuchak without much direction so we went in circles quite a bit. It was really tiring man. And when we were tired, we got a little drunk haha When the sun was about to set, we sat at another food outlet and people watch for awhile while our legs come back to life and set off to the Train Market (aka Talaad Rot Fai).

This place was recommended to me by Yilin (thank you so much!) when I saw her pictures on instagram. It is within a walking distance from Chatuchak and when we arrived, it felt like we teleport back to the olden days (i have no concept on whether it's the 80s or 90s). Old telephones, old televisions and a lot other old stuff were sold here but there are also new clothes sold.

This place was where Sheila and I found quite a bit of gold! They had fried insects yay. In case you don't know I do enjoy eating those ever since Jolin bought some back to Singapore a few years back during a class chalet :D I bought some worms but it was soggy so I never finish eating them. Sheila found the mini pancakes she have been 'gian-ing' ever since we board the plane. For me the best thing I got there was not the soggy worms but the studded shorts! I have been wanting one ever since I saw it online. Even though of studding one myself but it never happened because I was too lazy. And it cost me SGD$12 only :D :D :D I believe in Singapore, that price will only land me with not even one side of a shorts so YAY!

That night we returned to the same massage parlour and had full body oil massage. 1) I cannot stand doing another round of foot massage 2) I want to try the different kind of massage

11th March

Another Chatuchak day~ Started the day off with a brunch at the eating area in Chatuchak. Finally got beef noodle and the noodle taste very good! QQ 的! Also ate a small bowl of chocolatey ice after walking around a little before we went off to take the train to Union Mall. Chatuchak just does not seem to appeal to me very very much =/

my QQ beef noodles and a row of veggies to be added to your dish to your liking

Before we leave for Union Mall we discovered something! I don't know if anyone else noticed this or not but next time you want to get out of the heat for a little while at Chatuchak Market, go to the train station! It's air conditioned and there are some underground shops next to the train station. The moment we stepped into the train station we looked like this (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

Going to UM is a right choice! They have a lot of small shops and the things sold are pretty cheap (we found some items we got at a cheaper price here -_- partly because we did not bargain much too but still..) There was a lot of food too we could not decide what to eat - Korean BBQ, A&W (?), MK yadda yadda yadda we wanted to eat everythinggggggg~

MK was highly recommended by Sheila so we went in for lunch. Ordered a plate of meat and a bowl of rice to share. It was as good as it look woohoo especially the duck meat. Need.Another.Plate.Now. nomz

When to move up to another level we were tired already haha The upper level was not as appealing as the one before (but we still bought stuff there) and we took a long rest at the sitting corner before proceeding to a bit more shopping and went back down for dinner.

Because there was a lot of restaurant, we had to scissor, paper, stone to decide what to eat and unfortunately the western restaurant won. The food was not good at all :( I ordered rare steak, as usual but I am sure they bought forward raw meat instead.

We left the mall after dinner and from the overhead bridge we saw people dancing outside the mall. In fact there was quite a few groups of people around the mall dancing. The group of guys dancing to SNSD caught our attention. They were so good at synchronizing and the movement were all the same and some of them wore heels. Wearing it better than I do. /salutes

Outside the mall there was also rows and rows of vendors with mat neatly placed on the floor with different items. The different thing about this night flea market is that a lot of them made the products themselves. There were people designing phone casings, making leather products, sewing and gluing dolls and also making door signs. Really cool and heart warming to see that there is actually a place for these innovative people to be ^^

That night we went to check out clubs. Yes it was a Sunday but the clubs were all opened! However the club we went to was very quiet. Including the staff there were less than 20 people around -.- The more popular ones were clearly on full swing and more energetic and Sheila and I wanted so much to go in but it was already late and they were closing soon.. So we went back the next day haha

(photo uploading is a bitch again WHY hopefully I am not too lazy to edit this post with pictures later. Anyway you can see all the pictures at my facebook!)

Bangkok Part 1
(Thursday / 16:35)

If I have to explain Bangkok in a sentence - It is a diverse nation of people speaking the same language. But no, I have a lot more to say about my trip. Here goes!

7th March

My virgin trip to Bangkok! Have been hearing all sorts of wonderful experience from people and I got to agree to them!

Instead of taking a cab to our hotel, Sheila and I decided to take the train since the hotel we are staying in is located near to the station. Would be great if google map could give us the exact location but apparently the hotel is not listed in it yet. Asked around for direction after 20 minutes and finally made the right turn into the small lane.

We stayed at a new hotel name Blutique Hotel. As the name suggest, the main color used in the hotel is blue! There is nothing fanciful about the hotel but it was pretty!

We were pretty excited that there are food carts located just below our hotel and we bought so much for our dinner! Also bought soya bean from a uncle who speaks mandarin! Surprise~
Thai style roti prata. Really sweet as they add sugar and condensed milk

Roti Prata with banana, grilled fish wrapped with salt and Pad Thai

Throughout the stay I ate a few things that I had never tried and I don't even know what it is haha But as Andrew Zimmern says: If it looks good, eat it! :D

For the first night we were given a room on the third floor but we had it changed to the sixth floor for the rest of the stay. Why? We could hardly get any sleep on the 3rd floor because we can hear people talking loudly, banging the door and cheering for unknown reasons through the night! Might be the other guests but it might be noises from the kitchen because it is located on the 2nd floor. Thankfully the front office changed our room for us very willingly. Kudos!

8th March

Took a Tuktuk towards Siam Discovery Centre for 100baht. The driver wanted to make a stop initially but we told him no repeatedly and he gave up hehe We agreed on the price because he say it was far but when we arrived we realised ITS SO NEAR. Cheater.

Went to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum! Initially it was pretty scary to take photos with those wax figures because they looked so real! WHAT IF THEY MOVE SUDDENLY?!

My favourite. hahhaa

They have got motion machines inside to play with like free kicks and boxing. I was such a loser with those games but Sheila was so good with them haha Like a boss

After that we crossed the bridge to the street on the opposite side. We think it is Siam Square? Comparing it to Singapore you can call it the big Bugis Street. Lots of lanes with clothes, accessories, food and more clothes. We didn't not buy a lot though because we thought we could get the same stuff for a cheaper price at other places.

Delicious ramen for lunch at Siam

MBK up next. I cannot figure out the charisma of the place because we did not purchase anything from there! Maybe it is just not my kind of thing.

We also visited Erawan Shrine in the evening and almost got lost. Sheila told me that the Shrine is very popular and prayers are often answered! This might be the first time I prayed so earnestly hehe

Whole stretch of street vendors selling offerings for the Shrine at the upper left corner

After that we walked back to MBK via Siam Square. By the time, the whole street was filled with vendors and people. It got really crowded but the atmosphere felt good :D Singapore need this!! Anyway the reason why we went back to MBK was for dinner. Buffet less than SGD$10 how can we miss it?! Although there was a limit of 1.5h, we ate to our fill and then we walked back to our hotel slowly. So much walking for the day our legs gave way.

Non-stop refill for drinks, sushi and food from the conveyor belt~

Took a shower and went for a massage! It was my first time haha but I did not exactly enjoy it. We did foot massage and it was hella painful and weird. The masseur was also constantly telling me to relax. Problem is I don't even know I wasn't relaxing. In the end I really had no idea how am I suppose to position my foot. -_-

9th March

Spent most of our time at Platinum Mall on the Friday. Gosh it was not enough the place is huge! We went to the top level for breakfast first but whenever we arrive at a new level by the escalator we cannot stop wow-ing because everything looks like rainbow and sunshine to our eyes~

I do not have a liking for sunny side up but who can resist this cute sunny side up pigeon egg! It takes good, with or without the sweet sauce in the middle.

When we were about to finish our meal, my tummy and butt begin to give out signals... Nb when I was in the hotel I tried to shit but nothing came out! So I pretend to be composed and walked to the toilet, only to see that I need to buy tissue from the vending machine. I did not take any money along with meeee T_T Walked back to our table and took a couple pieces of tissue from the table cause we did not had any coins with us and went back. Yes, their food court provides tissue on the table how convenient! /likes Anyway, I could not even stand straight because it felt like the shit is coming out any moment. I'm not kidding. And the queue was not moving T_T x2 Then I went to the toilet downstairs and burst into shits You can never understand the kind of relief I got at that moment unless you went through with it too hahahahah Then all is well in the world and we went shopping!

Before we leave the mall, Sheila had Mac for dinner. Can you believe that I was not feeling hungry most of the time during our trip?
my partner in crime at BKK~

Some new bubble tea shop giving out small cups as advertising

She ordered Samurai Pork burger and it taste superb! Too bad Singapore cannot have that :( And Bangkok Mac also has additional sauces like cheese and wasabi and some Mexican sauce( if I did not recall wrongly). The cheese is heavennnnnnn! We ate Mac again on the last night cause we cannot have enough of the pork and cheese hehe

We went back to our hotel to put our stuff down and headed to Patpong Night Market. There was nothing much to see at the night market actually except that they sell sex toys and porn openly. There are also a lot people offering us to see "ping pong show" but we declined.

Actually we really want to see but we were afraid haha

So we just settled down at a safe looking open bar with live music and drank cocktails while we people watch. By the end of the night I drank enough to feel a little high and we almost hit the club haha Took a cab back to the hotel so I could pee (really urgent then) and then we ate our cup noodles and started taking pictures before we hit the sack.
